Issue Position

House Republican Caucus Agenda:

Election Reforms: After the election debacle of 2012, the Caucus is committed to overhauling the way candidates qualify and file for office. We want to ensure anybody qualified to run for public office can do so easily.
State Data Security: The data theft from state computers exposed how much information the government keeps and how it is protected. We will work to identify sensitive data and implement state-of-the-art data security.
Update Our Ethics Laws: Ethics Reform is the centerpiece to re-instill trust in our state's political system. We will overhaul our two-decades-old ethics laws and update them to better reflect the realities of 21st Century politics.
Oppose Obamacare: Obamacare is the greatest expansion of Federal power in nearly a century, and one of the biggest tax increases ever approved. We will fight the implementation of the law and the taxes in our state.
Real Tax Reform: We knew last year's tax overhaul would take years to achieve. This year, we will reduce tax assessments on manufacturers to 6%, eliminate sales tax exemptions, and flatten our personal income taxes.
Grow Our Economy: The Caucus will promote legislation that will help our state's businesses grow, compete, and employ more workers. We will fight for: regulatory reform, small business capital, and enhanced skills training.
Government Restructuring: After getting within a Senate filibuster of the biggest government restructuring in more than two decades, we believe the time is right to make our state government more accountable.
